Marsh RunLocation: Franklin County, Ohio. View location map Overview of the Problem Marsh Run had become an unattractive, entrenched and unstable drainage channel at the center of a busy city park. As a result of floodplain filling and channel straightening, the stream had downcut 3 feet and was evolving from a G to an F stream type. Restoration Solution The goals of the project were to restore floodplain access, stabilize the bed and banks, and enhance aquatic habitat. This project involved a Priority 2 restoration that converted a G/F to a C stream type. The floodplain was excavated and riffle grade controls were used to raise the channel invert. The channel pattern was also adjusted to improve stream alignment with a bridge crossing.
